The Visitor Industry Charity Walk is the largest, single-day fundraising event in Hawaii, raising more than $1 million in 2009. For 2010 (the 32nd annual running of the event), 24 members of the Nan, Inc. ‘ohana joined more than 9,000 participants statewide, who walked courses set up on the islands of Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai. The six-mile route on Oahu began at Ala Moana Beach Park and meandered through Waikiki. Affiliates of event-sponsor Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association set up a series of 15 checkpoints along the course, treating walkers to an array of edible goodies and fun gadgets. Nan, Inc.’s generous employees donated $1,005 to the charity walk, which benefits a range of non-profit organizations in Hawaii.
