Full Renovation of the Kou Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, Island of Oahu, Hawaii
- Client: Hyatt Regency
- Contract Amount: N/A
Nan Inc has just completed a full renovation of the new Kou Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, formerly known as the Colony Meeting Room. Previously, Hyatt customers had to deal with the low ceilings and empty kitchen and bar area. Along with the Colony Meeting Room, the adjacent men’s and women’s restrooms and Tour Desk were also renovated. The Tour Desk space is now user-friendly, and the bathrooms have greatly increased functionality with additional toilet compartments.
One of the major challenges we encountered was the existing ceiling heights, which at some areas were as low as 7’-6”, and the new proposed ceiling heights, which varied from 8’ to 10’. The existing fire sprinkler, electrical, HVAC, & plumbing systems had to be removed and a whole new system had to be incorporated due to the varied ceiling heights. Even with all these obstacles, we still completed the project in 4 months. The Kou Ballroom project also involved removing the kitchen and bar, and completely redoing the interior.
This project consisted of selective demolition work, relocation of utilities, interior finishes, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and other miscellaneous work. This full-scale renovation required the highest quality of finishes, which included level 5 finish gypsum board, a composite flooring design of carpet and tile, stone cladding on walls, a tile veneer column, granite countertops, linear wood ceiling, wood wall paneling, and fabric wall coverings. This new meeting room is now modern, elegant, and the premiere meeting facility in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa.
