FY06 MCA PN 57035 Whole Barracks Renewal Phase 2F2 and FY07 MCA PN 58294 Whole Barracks Renewal Phase 2G, Schofield Barracks, Island of Oahu, Hawaii
- Client: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
- Contract Amount: $50,173,000
The Whole Barracks Renewal, Phase 2F2/2G design-build project consisted of the construction of two Battalion Headquarter facilities and two Company Operations Facilities over a 120,000 square foot project site. The Battalion Headquarters, ranging approximately 12,000 square feet each, included command offices, classrooms, conference rooms, and secured information storage vaults. The Company Operations Facilities, each extending approximately 30,000 square feet over three separate structures, included platoon offices, gear locker storage, arms vaults, high-value equipment storage, and hardstands for vehicle maintenance. Other site amenities included a large pavilion, covered motorcycle parking shelter, bicycle storage, and vehicle access control by means of control gates with card readers.
Prior to the construction of these four new facilities, the project required the demolition of the Quad I complex, which consisted of three existing three-story heavy concrete buildings and the related support structures. Other project requirements included the construction of a large drainage outfall, which not only supported the new facility, but the surrounding buildings as well. Although the project was originally programmed to achieve a LEED Silver rating, the building is currently undergoing an evaluation for a Gold rating by the US Green Building Council.
Due to the success of the project, Nan, Inc. was presented with a Certificate of Achievement for “exemplary leadership in safety” and a Coin of Excellence for overall outstanding performance from the US Army Corps of Engineers.
